Squash Team Match Report - Droitwich

Malvern Active faced another tough test since their recent promotion to Division Two as they faced up to Droitwich 2nd team.

Any doubts about their capabilities at this level were finally put to bed in this closely fought contest as they ran out 3-2 winners on the night.

Gareth and Martin both returned positive results while Jamie and Rob could not, leaving the deciding game down to number 1 string Gary. Thankfully, his class shone through as he strolled to a 3-0 victory seeing Malvern Active home safely 3-2 on the night.

Meanwhile, Malvern Active 2nds were being tested in the away contest at Droitwich.

Although they came away 5-0 winners on the night it was a tough test. Jez, Will, Nick & Bez all dropped games in their respective victories but it was the number 1 strings who really put on a display. Anthony Arnold heading up the second team for the first time and faced Droitwich's number 1 string Spencer Read, and at 2-0 down quickly saw himself staring down the barrel of a 3-0 defeat. This was not to be as Anthony dug in with unbelievable grit and determination to pull the match back to all square going into the final game. Anthony chased everything down and his fitness and never say die attitude finally sealed a 3-2 victory and a 5-0 win for the second team.

These results see both sides head their divisions after 5 games.
